Allusion Poem Final

I was once all alone and abandoned.
Having no one to turn to
Except for my speechless pal.

Then a friend came along
and I taught him what was right and wrong.
Together, we completed his roundup.

I was once all alone and afraid.
Trapped in a box,
With my hair tied in a braid.

During the day
a sheriff came along,
Helping us escape all that's wrong

Although I was once afraid and abandoned
I am brave, never showing my sadness.
I am athletic and I love to play,
especially with my rescuer
and my four-legged buddy.

In my new home,
there's more than just the roundup.
I no longer have to be all alone and blue
Because I know I've got a friend in you.

Allusion Graphic Final

Allusion Poem Draft

I was once all alone and abandoned.
Having no one to turn to
Except for my speechless companion.

Then a friend came along
and I taught him what was right and wrong.
Together, we completed his roundup.

I was once all alone and afraid.
Trapped in a box,
With my hair tied in a braid.

During the day
a sheriff came along,
Helping us escape all that's wrong

Although I was once afraid and abandoned
I am brave, never showing my sadness.
I am overexcited and I love to play,
especially with my rescuer
and my four-legged companion

In my new home,
there's more than just the roundup.
I no longer have to be all alone and blue
Because I know I've got a friend in you.

Kristen and Isabelle's Myths

What stories might be represented by the cave drawings from Lascaux?
Kristen and I feel that the bull is the most significant object in majority of the pictures because it is painted larger than the rest of the animals. We feel that the stories are more focused on the bull than the other characters. The person or people who painted the bull made the bull seem dominating and mighty because of its size and because of the picture where the bull is attacking a creature or man.

What reasons might early man have had to create them?
They wanted to pass down the stories of life in Lascaux to the following generations who will live there. They probably wanted to send a message about how the bulls acted, or what they thought of the bulls.

What similarities do you see between Lascaux art and the other ancient art pictured on the second webpage?
Wildlife seems to be represented in the paintings, along with their relationships to man.

What stories might be depicted by the art from Knossos? Egypt? China?
Kristen and I think that the people who lived in their environment would often see five dolphins. They probably thought that they were rulers of the sea. We have a feeling that these people probably lived near the sea.

As for Egypt, we think that the humans acted as herders towards the animals. It seems as if the humans were taking control of the animals, probably to eat, multiply, or sacrifice them.

We think that Chinese paintings portray a sense of sacredness. The paintings of the scenery are sacred places. As for the paintings of horses, we think that black horse was sacred, since the man was riding on the white horse. Another evidence of what we think is that the white horse is tied up, while the black horse if probably roaming freely.

Since these images come from different geographical locations, what might be some generalizations you can make about myths and man?

Man probably worshiped certain animals that they drew. Man also thought of them as superior.
